This system includes two stackable silver chambers with lids and filters attached, plus vials of red dye to test priming of filters.
Setup is simple and no plumbing is needed – making this an ideal solution for camping trips, RV living, and other situations where treated water may not be readily available.
Easy to set up
The Berkey system is user-friendly. The stainless steel components are high quality and have survived repeated trips off of counter without denting. To clean filter elements, first remove them from their unit and scrub with non-scratch sponge or brush; rinse well afterwards using clean water.
Repriming filters after cleaning them is important in order to prevent premature clogging of them. You can do this by filling a bucket or container with clean, purified water and adding 16 drops of bleach; immerse the filters and let them soak in this solution for several hours before placing back into storage.
Your Berkey should be cleaned regularly using natural soap and water, performing the Red Food Dye Test to ensure proper functioning, as well as at least once monthly washing the lower chamber and spigot with warm soapy water to maintain optimal hygiene levels. Furthermore, there is a sight glass included that allows you to monitor water levels within its chambers.
Easy to clean
The Big Berkey system utilizes gravity filtration technology to turn natural outside water into clean, healthy drinking water. Not only is this environmentally-friendly, it saves money as well! By decreasing plastic bottle consumption it cuts down on expenses related to buying bottled water.
Clean and maintain this system is straightforward, using mild dish soap to scrub both chambers of the filter, then rinsing off with clean water afterwards. Be sure to sanitize and reprime filter elements after cleaning them before reusing them again.
How often you need to clean your filters depends on the quality of water available in your locality. If it is very polluted, more frequent filter cleanings may be required; to reduce this problem use cloth filters or coffee filters before placing water in your berkey.
Easy to maintain
The Berkey Water purification system is an easy, clean way to purify raw, untreated water that doesn’t require tools, electricity or pressure – even in hostile environments and natural disaster situations.
For optimal operation of the Berkey filter system, simply clean its Black Berkey elements regularly using a non-scratch 3M Scotch Brite pad to remove contaminants such as chlorine, chloramines, heavy metals and chemicals from your water supply. This will keep it as safe and refreshing as ever!
Once your filters have been cleaned and disinfected, they must be re-primed before being used again. To do this, pour several cups of white vinegar into their storage container, soaking for several hours. Afterward, once they’re ready to be used again, they can be rinsed in clean water before being put into service again in your Berkey system – make sure that extra Black Berkey elements are available as these filters typically only last around 6,000 gallons each set!
Easy to transport
The Big Berkey water filter system is an efficient gravity-fed stainless steel marvel that effectively filters tap water from harmful chemicals, metals, and plastics. Featuring ample capacity to serve a family of four members comfortably while being easily portable for emergencies or camping trips – not to mention expandability to fit additional filter elements as your family grows!
A sight glass spigot allows you to check how much water remains in the lower chamber, helping prevent you from overfilling and creating an accident. Furthermore, its quarter-turn ball valve design offers secure yet convenient access.
The Travel Berkey is designed for home use, vacations, hunting and camping trips and unexpected emergencies – and can even be used in an office or yoga studio! Compact enough to fit in a suitcase when traveling by plane; making it the ideal gift idea.
