Jameson Ellis of Etsy store Unique Goods designed the Sync II Multitool Wearable Belt Buckle as an EDC item with its detachable base that can either be used as a belt buckle or clipped onto a boot or pack strap for convenient carry.
To use it, just remove it from its base and unfold into its pliers/knife/scissors configuration.
Bear Grylls Survival Belt
Survival situations necessitate access to various tools and the knowledge of how best to utilize them. Gerber and Bear Grylls’ sturdy hatchet and sheath is more than a multitool belt buckle but also serves as a comprehensive survival kit, featuring wire saw, razor-sharp knife, fire starter rod and even hammer to help provide shelter or firewood if necessary – not forgetting its durable rubber locking mechanism and durable gray PVD coating on its hatchet – everything necessary for survival situations
Although designed for outdoorsmen, this belt can also serve those living and traveling far from civilization. Every feature was designed to help users survive in extreme environments and combine Bear Grylls’ expertise in survival with Luminox’s legendary performance under pressure.
Fix Manufacturing
Bikerumor covered California-based Fix Manufacturing’s initial iteration of their multitool belt buckle back in 2016. Their All Out Belt now allows users to carry any tool set they own through its Payload Pocket feature. It is lighter, slimmer and more comfortable than its predecessor and uses a patented spring mechanism to prevent accidental ejection of tools. Furthermore, the All Out belt also features a cut-out on its left side which some Fix tools can hook onto for increased wrenching leverage. You can purchase this belt standalone or pair it with their Wheelie Wrench multitool which contains everything needed for bike repair at $35; see our review of MTB Field Kit as well for further insight.
SOG
SOG is known for integrating practical EDC features into multi-tools that look like belt buckles. Their Sync line exemplifies this concept, with tools that lock securely on a detachable base that can be worn like a belt buckle or clipped onto pack straps or boots for use as belt buckles or clipped onto pack straps or boots for convenient carry.
The PowerAccess Deluxe is one of the company’s latest and most feature-packed tools, boasting many useful functions but leaving us wondering about some omissions (scissors anyone?) and redundancies (two drivers being redundant).
The main blade is of good size, and can be deployed quickly with one flick of your thumb. Locking into place using SOG’s innovative XR lock mechanism – an upgrade over previous lever-style locking mechanisms used by earlier SOG knives – this blade locks securely.
