Ruike UPK-M2 Multitool Knife: In-Depth Review

Ruike is a newcomer in the budget and mid priced multitool knife market, quickly making an impression with their Trekker range of full sized Swiss Army style tools.

Upk-m2 takes an unconventional approach by forgoing folding pliers and providing more tools on its stainless steel frame. When used as pry bars, its pliers prove invaluable while its knife blade is satisfactory but not razor-sharp.

Blade

Full-size multitools provide a range of tools, such as pliers and bit drivers. They can be carried using pocket clips, sheaths or lanyards.

UpKnife’s UPK-M2 packs plenty of utility into an ultrathin package that fits comfortably in pockets or packs and bags, designed and created by designer/maker John Risch in Agua Dulce, Calif. Risch envisions, designs and crafts each tool in his Agua Dulce workshop.

UpKnife features an innovative design featuring two hybrid tanto blades connected by bolt action that protrude from two stainless steel handle panels, one blade setting exposing a short section of cutting edge to function as a box opener, as well as multiple hex wrenches and a 1/4″ bit driver for additional functionality.

Pliers

As a multitool, the UPK-M2 offers multiple tools – pliers, blades, saw and various openers/drivers are just some of them – plus extras that only few other multitools offer like fire starter striker and signal whistle.

Full-sized pliers-based multitools like the Leatherman Signal offer plenty of utility in a relatively compact package, including multiple blades and tools like package openers, pry tool, awls, screwdrivers and scissors. Unfortunately though they’re often cumbersome to use one-handed. Therefore they may be better suited for people who don’t wish to carry both multitool and pocket knife simultaneously; alternatively there’s also the UPK-M2 that offers similar functionality but in a slimmer and lighter package as well as additional tools like two hex box wrenches and wire stripper features not commonly found on many pliers like other full-sized multitools like their counterparts; ideal for anyone wanting just one tool with more tools in it’s slimmer dimensions!

Tool Bits

Tool bits are non-rotary cutting tools used with power cutters. Each is specifically shaped to cut along specific profiles of depth and width; made of hardened high carbon tool steel stock for extra hardiness, they can also be ground into different profiles to meet customer demands. Tool bits play an integral part in metalworking processes – choosing the wrong kind may save hours of effort in labor costs alone!

5% cobalt is designed for heavy-duty machining alloy steels and tough materials, and boasts superior heat and abrasion resistant properties.

The UPKnife multitool fits comfortably in your pocket like any regular pocket knife, offering ample utility with every use. Made in America and featuring saw, box wrenches, 1/4-inch bit driver, wire stripper and tungsten carbide glass breaker tools; its construction makes this product truly USA made.

Bottle Opener

A twin-prong bottle opener, often referred to as the Butler’s Friend or Ah-So, is specialized equipment used for opening wine bottles by popping off metal caps. Configured from a long brass tube with an arched lever pivoted halfway down and protruding at its end, when placed over a bottle and pressed it drives a corkscrew into its neck of the bottle.

This multitool features a bottle opener that doubles as hex box wrenches. At its tail end is a tungsten carbide glass breaker – perfect for camping and backpacking trips! Although not as quick or user-friendly, but still effective.

Glass Breaker

This remarkable multitool packs more than its name suggests; with a bolt-action hybrid tanto blade and saw as well as bottle opener and line cutter features. In addition to multiple hex box wrenches (including one 1/4-inch bit driver).

Emergency hammers (also referred to as glass breakers) are essential tools for anyone driving in poor weather conditions. With its sharp, tempered steel tip and compact size, this tool can break windows to save the day in an emergency situation.

Ruike has recently established itself in the budget knife market with high value pocket knives and multitools like its LD-51 model, featuring an easy to use stainless steel blade and glass-breaking capability made possible with tungsten carbide glass-breaker technology.
