Berkey water filter fluoride works to eliminate harmful elements from drinking water using time-tested technology, helping health-minded individuals reduce consumption of harmful elements.
Black Berkey filters have undergone rigorous laboratory tests that exceed EPA protocols. Their filtering mechanism uses multiple mechanisms that block contaminants from passing through.
Reduces Fluoride by up to 95%
Berkey water filters Fluoride remove unwanted fluoride through the process of adsorption. They have been independently certified to reduce fluoride, arsenic removal and other heavy metals like lead mercury and cadmium – they are compatible with all Black Berkey purification elements as a postfilter to complete your system.
Filtration systems can be an ideal solution for families, health-conscious people and anyone wanting to avoid toxic chemicals in their drinking water supply. Furthermore, they may come in handy during times of natural disaster or travel and camping adventures.
Black Berkey Filter Elements provide protection from many potential contaminants including chlorine, sand, soil and rust sediment contamination as well as pharmaceuticals, petroleum contamination (gasoline diesel mineral spirits) and pesticides. Their PF-2 fluoride and arsenic removal elements utilize microfiltration, adsorption and ion exchange technologies to remove these substances from drinking water; each filter will last 1,000 gallons before needing replacement.
Removes Arsenic
The Black Berkey element can remove an extensive list of chemicals and particles from your drinking water, including heavy metals, fluoride, chloramines, pharmaceuticals, petroleum contaminants and pathogenic bacteria and viruses. Furthermore, its PF-2 fluoride and arsenic reduction elements eliminate these contaminates while still upholding its potency.
PF-2 filters can be directly threaded onto Black Berkey elements for use in gravity-based filter systems, with tests showing they remove over 99.9% of arsenic from drinking water as well as up to 99% of fluoride.
PF-2 filters also possess the capability of eliminating bisphenol A (BPA), an endocrine disruptor found in plastic products, from drinking water. Furthermore, their elements adsorb a range of volatile organic compounds like atrazen, benzene, dieldrin and tetrachloromethane at below lab detectable limits – an added benefit.
Removes BPA
Berkey water filters reduce a range of contaminants including chlorine, chloramines, pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals, heavy metals, nitrates and arsenic from drinking water sources. Furthermore, these filters also remove BPA.
Black Berkey purification elements use multiple mechanisms to keep contaminants out, including microfiltration, adsorption/absorption and ion exchange. Their materials, shape and texture work in tandem to block fluoride, arsenic and heavy metals without taking away healthy minerals from your drinking water supply.
Fluoride-affected water needs to be addressed quickly and effectively; to achieve this goal, Black Berkey filters can be enhanced with PF-2 Fluoride Reduction Elements (sold separately). These attachments connect directly to the stems of your black filters and increase their ability to filter fluoride out from your drinking water supply. Typically, after 1,000 gallons (or approximately 12 months of regular usage), replacement PF-2 elements should be made a part of daily refilling; recommended usage rate would be one refill per day for families of four.
Reduces Nitrates and Nitrites
The Berkey Water Filter System can effectively remove many other harmful contaminants, including pesticides, pharmaceuticals and heavy metals. Furthermore, studies have demonstrated their ability to significantly decrease microorganism counts such as E. coli bacteria that causes pathogenic infections.
Nitrates and nitrites can enter drinking water sources through fertilizers, industrial waste or animal feed, with high concentrations linked with methemoglobinemia affecting infants in particular. Nitrates are found worldwide and even at lower concentrations can be dangerously toxic.
Black Berkey filters are capable of removing some fluoride, but for maximum removal they require special replacement elements called PF-2s that fit directly onto the stems of black elements and use activated alumina to absorb more fluoride than their basic filters can do alone. You can purchase two such sets to use alongside existing Black Berkey elements for optimal fluoride removal.
